Bill Nye was born on November 27, 1955, in Washington, D.C. His parents are Jacqueline Jenkins-Nye and Edwin Darby Nye. Both of them served in World War II. His mother was a code breaker and his father, a contractor.
Bill Nye completed his schooling from Lafayette Elementary School and Alice Deal Junior High. He then finished his high school, earning a scholarship from Sidwell Friends. He then moved to New York to study at the prestigious Cornell University. Bill Nye completed his mechanical engineering in 1977 from Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. His enthusiasm in science was given an acceleration after he attended a class in astronomy with the known scientist, Carl Sagan.
