Robert Herjavec was born in Croatia in 1962, but he grew up in North America after his parents escaped communism in the former Yugoslavia regime. The father was anti-communist, and he had to flee the country to save himself and his family life. Coming to America with just $20 in his pockets he lived a very humble life. Herjavec father worked hard and sent his son to New College where he graduated with a degree in English literature and political science in 1984.
