Professional life and career

Terrell Owens was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 1996. This marked the beginning of his professional career, where his first catches were recorded on the 22nd of September 1996 against the Carolina Panthers.

His first game-winning touch down for the San Francisco 49ers was on the 20th of October 1996 against the Cincinnati Bengals.  Owens’s success at the 49ers’ came in the wake of an injury to Jerry Rice, who was the team’s top receiver.

As his replacement, Owens helped the 49ers’ to win 13 games that season, earning him a place in the starting line up, relegating Jerry Rice to the bench. Owens’s superb performance for the 49ers continued in the ensuing seasons from 1998 up until 2003 when he opted to leave the team.

In 2004, Terrell was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles for a seven-year contract worth $49 million-plus a $10 million signing bonus. His time with the Philadelphia Eagles, however, did not end well due to numerous, misunderstandings which eventually led to the club releasing him on March 14th, 2006.

After his release, Owens was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys had signed Owens to a 3-year, $25 million deal. After a stint with the Dallas Cowboys, Owens has been drafted by other clubs which include Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Allen Wranglers, and Seattle Seahawks
