Professional Life and Career

During the 2001 NBA draft, Arenas was picked by the Golden Warrior in the second round. He played for the Warriors until 2003, where he used to wear the jersey number 0. His services at the Warriors were not making an impact, and he left for The Washington Wizards in 2003. He signed a six years contract with them.

His contribution at the Washington Wizard was great, and he helped them in winning several matches. In 2005, the Wizards defeated Chicago Bulls by 112-110. The match was held at the Eastern Conference playoffs. Arenas made 6.1 assists and managed to gather a total of 29.3 points in the 2005-2006 Season.

He hit two buzzer-beaters in 2007. It was at that season that Gilbert got a knee injury, prompting him to play for only eight games in the 2007-2008 season. In 2008, he extended his contract with the Wizards by signing a contract of six years. The 2009-2010 season was not bad for him as he scored 29 points, defeating Dallas Mavericks.

In December 2009, luck was not on his side as he violated NBA rules by having a firearm. The incident led to him being suspended in January 2010. The same year, Gilbert suffered another blow when he was traded to Orlando Magic. He played with the Magic until 2011. After leaving the Orlando Magic, he was signed by Memphis Grizzlies in 2012. Later that year, Gilbert signed a contract with CBA Shanghai Sharks. He played 14 games for the Sharks, where he started in 8 of them. He retired from professional basketball in 2013.
