Lee’s parents were against him becoming a comedian, and they did not support him, and they wanted him to work with them in their stores. It is no wonder then that Lee left home at the age of 18. He took jobs in coffee shops and restaurants to make ends meet. It was an after a coffee shop he was working in closed that he went to work in a club. It was at that club that he decided to do stand-up comedy, and he did so for more than a year.

When he was still at the club, he got an offer to open for Carlos Mencia, who was a comedian, writer, and actor. He as well got a chance to open for Pauly Shore, who was a director, actor, and comedian. Lee worked in several comedy clubs before he got a career breakthrough. He worked at The Improv, and The Comedy Store, in West Hollywood.

A breakthrough in his career came when he landed a role in MATtv sketch comedy series. He was the writer of some of the series’ episodes. He also appeared in The Awesomes and The Animal Practice.
