The professional career of Babyface kicked off by him playing with Bootsy Collins, who was a funk performer. He later played for Manchild. He later started to
play the keyboard for the group called The Deele. His songwriting career came into the limelight in 1983, when he wrote a song for Midnight Star by the name of Slow Jam.
He released his solo album in 1986, called Lovers. This album was followed in 1989 by another one called Tender Love. This album was a big hit, and it became a multi-platinum album which peaked to number one on the R&B charts in the U.S. The album was followed by For The Cool in You, in 1993.
