Professional Life and Career

Sia started her singing career in the mid-1990s. Sia started singing in the local acid jazz band Crisp. She collaborated with the band and contributed vocals to their album Word and the Deal released in 1995 and EP Delirium released in 1997. However, the band was disbanded in 1997.

Following this, Sia released her debut studio album titled ‘OnlySee’ under Flavoured Records, in Australia, on the23rd of December the same year. Sia then moved to London, where she performed as a background vocalist for the British band Jamiroquai as well as providing lead vocals for English downtempo group Zero 7.

In 2006, Sia again collaborated with Zero 7 for the group’s third album, The Garden, and hence she is regarded as the “unofficial” lead singer of Zero 7. Sia released her debut single in 2001 titled, “Taken for Granted,” after signing with Sony Music’s sub-label Dance Pool the previous year.

This single was a hit as it peaked at No. 10 on the UK Singles Chart. Sia released her second solo album in 2011 titled Healing Is Difficult. This album was a blend of retro jazz and soul music. Sia has managed to collaborate with other artists who include Christina Aguilera.  Sia has also ventured into songwriting as well as acting, earning prominence in both roles as well.
