Professional Life and Career

She began her career as a model at an early age of 14, which was a success for her and hence featuring as cover girl in the January 1992 issue of Johnson Publishing Company’s monthly magazine. She then was made a model of the company’s Ebony Fashion Fair cosmetic line.

In 1993, she participated in the Miss Michigan USA competition and won. This helped her represent her state in the Miss USA pageant, which she won and became the American entrant in the Miss Universe pageant of that year.

She also participated in The 42nd Miss Universe pageant and finished among the top six finalists.

Slowly by slowly, she got engaged in acting and played a minor role of Dana in the Will Smith starrer popular television sitcom ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ in its episode titled ‘Mother’s Day.’ The program aired in the production’s fourth season on May 2, 1994.

The years that followed saw she featured in minor roles in several television productions, including in single episodes of TV series like ‘Martin’ (1996), ‘Homeboys in Outer Space’ (1996), and ‘Smart Guy’ (1997) in the following years.

She later made a big-screen feature with the 1998 comic sci-fi film ‘Senseless’ which, emerged as a box-office disappointment.

She did not give up and appeared as the starring role of Jasmine Davis in the Rob Hardy directed 2010 erotic thriller film ‘Trois.’ This film performed marvelously well, grossing $1.3 million at the box-office. It also emerged among the highest-grossing African-American films of the year and the top fifty highest-grossing independent films in that year.

She also appeared in other films, including the 2003 ‘Deliver Us from Eva’, the 2006 ‘Cloud 9’, and the 2007 ‘I Know Who Killed Me.’

She established her own independent movie production and home-video distribution company ‘Moore Vision Media’ in 2008. The company made its first release in 2010, whereby the erotic thriller film ‘The Confidant’ was released.

She also participated as a producer of the thriller film ‘Trapped: Haitian Nights.’ In the film, she starred along with Vivica A. Fox. After the film lost its director, she took charge of the film and completed it.

She became part of the main cast of ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ series in May 2012 in its fifth season. The show has had a good reception and has emerged as the most-watched series airing on Bravo. This furthered her fame to a larger capacity.

Kenya has featured in other TV series, including ‘Men, Women, & Dogs’ (2001) and ‘Girlfriends’ (2004). She has participated in reality shows, including ‘The Celebrity Apprentice 7’ (2015) and ‘The Millionaire Matchmaker’ (2015).

Her other involvements include covers of renowned magazines such as ‘Essence,’ ‘Glamour,’ ‘Ebony’ and ‘Seventeen’ and releasing her advice book ‘Game, Get Some!’ which was done in November 2007.
